About Alley Cat Advocates
| What We Do |
What We Don't Do |
We provide training and lend out traps to individuals who are able to perform TNR work themselves.
X
We assist individuals with the TNR process and share responsibilities, including financial assistance to cover part or all of the cost of veterinary services.
X |
We provide "recovery space" for post-surgical cats |
We do not provide assistance if the person requesting help will not allow the cat to be returned to its environment.
X |
We do not provide help if the cat is an owned pet.
X |
We do not provide help in finding a cat a new home. Check out our Related Sites link for how to contact area organizations that may be able to help you address your situation. |

We offer two ways to get unowned, stray cats spayed or neutered: the BIG FIX and the QUICK FIX.

The BIG FIX is used by 90% of the caretakers (people who care for unowned, stray cats) who call us for spay/neuter help. The BIG FIX is held twelve times a year, typically once a month. This is an all volunteer event-even the veterinarians are volunteers- at which we spay or neuter and average of 140 cats on one weekend. For this service we require no set fee; however we do actively seek donations. Without donations we would not be able to continue doing the BIG FIX. While the “price” may be right, the demand for the BIG FIX is overwhelming and the wait for a caretaker to be scheduled is typically 3-4 months.
For some the QUICK FIX is a better option. As you might guess, one is scheduled more quickly if this option is selected, typically within two to three weeks of the call. A QUICK FIX surgery is performed at a private veterinarian's office during regular business hours. Payment is required for the QUICK FIX service, and of course donations are also accepted above the required fee. |
